Des Plaines, Ill. (Feb. 6, 2026) - Oakton College has been awarded $270,704.59 through the Illinois Community College Board’s (ICCB) Innovative Bridge and Transition (IBT) Grant Program to strengthen education-to-career pathways for adult learners. The funding will support expanded workforce training, employer partnerships and wraparound services designed to help students prepare for and secure high-demand careers.

Oakton is one of 29 organizations statewide selected for FY2026 IBT funding. In total, the ICCB awarded $9.3 million to community colleges and partner organizations across Illinois to expand access to bridge programming, workforce training and critical student support services.
Oakton’s programs will serve diverse adult learners, including English language learners and neurodivergent individuals, and will focus on preparing students for industry-recognized credentials and in-demand careers. At least 95 participants will receive financial support as they prepare for workforce entry, while 100 students will engage in work-based learning and career exploration opportunities.
