Oakton College is continuing campus improvement projects including those outlined in our recently approved facilities master plan, which will result in transformed spaces that create an optimal learning and working environment for students and employees.

Latest Update: July 15, 2025

  • Weather permitting, the north half of Parking Lot D (near the Lee Center) at the Des Plaines Campus will be closed from July 17 - 25 for work related to Exterior Lighting Upgrades. The south half of Parking Lot D will re-open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic July 17.
  • The Des Plaines campus Library and Learning Center have moved to their temporary location in the TenHoeve wing (1600 rooms). The TenHoeve Rooms at the Des Plaines campus will be unavailable for events and meetings until Dec. 31, 2025.
  • The Des Plaines Testing Center has moved into its permanent home in Suite 1830 (near the Enrollment Center) and is now open.
  • The Des Plaines Access and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) office has moved to its permanent home in Suite 1820 and is now open.
  • The Division of Student Affairs has temporarily re-located to Room 2817.

Des Plaines and RHC (Skokie) Campus Exterior Lighting Upgrades

Work is expected to begin in early July, resulting in rolling closures of parking lots and walkways, restricting access to vehicle and pedestrian classes for various time durations.

Weather permitting, the north half of Parking Lot D (near the Lee Center) at the Des Plaines Campus will be closed from July 17 - 25.

The mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) rough-in is ongoing and is expected to continue for several months. Painting of walls is ongoing. The installation of ceilings is ongoing. Tile work for restrooms is completed.

The project will be going out for bid in June. Board of Trustees consideration for the bid approval is expected to take place in August.

Student Affairs, Information Technology and Access and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Office Renovations (Des Plaines)

Phase 1 projects for the IT Hub, Testing Center, and ADRC are nearing completion.
