Oakton to Host Spring Open House April 18 in Des Plaines

Oakton College is excited to welcome prospective students, their families and community members to its campus-wide Spring Open House on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Des Plaines campus.

The Spring Open House, free and open to the public, will be held at 1600 E. Golf Road in Des Plaines, Ill. The event is designed for high school students exploring their next steps, as well as parents and adult learners considering a career change. It offers a comprehensive introduction to Oakton’s academic programs, student resources and vibrant campus life.

Visitors will engage directly with faculty and staff and explore campus facilities. They can also gain valuable insights into the college experience through a variety of breakout sessions and hands-on activities offered throughout the day.

Explore Academic and Student Services: Connect directly with department representatives at the Resource Fair and attend sessions like Oakton Overview, where admission staff will introduce the College’s 150+ degree and certificate programs, student life and support services.

Attend Informative Workshops: Drop in on expert-led sessions covering key topics, such as “Funding Your Education” (including financial aid, scholarships and grants), “Advising 101,” and “Exploring Health Careers,” as well as step-by-step admission application workshops.

Plan Your Next Steps: Participate in sessions like “You’ve Applied, Now What?” to learn how to set up your student portal, complete placement requirements and prepare for a smooth transition to college.

Experience Campus Tours: Take a guided tour to see key campus locations, including the Learning Commons, Koehnline Art Museum and the Fitness Center.

Get Hands-On: Participate in interactive, faculty-led demonstrations, including robotics experiences such as the NASA Lunabotics workshop, offering insight into engineering, coding and technical career pathways.
